I relate to the academic and especially her cousin: the Forever Procrastinator. Do nothing in January because you wait for “the real New Years” which of course is after summer when you have lots of energy; come September, you think “nah, it’s only four months left of this year, let’s wait until I can get a new calendar and start January 1st …”. Repeat for infinite number of times 😉😬🤷🏻‍♀️😇

I usually don’t “do” resolutions because I have always felt that if something is going to improve your life, you don’t need to wait for a start date. But last year I decided to stretch for 10 minutes before bed every night (really more like 4-5 nights/week) and it has been so lovely! Then I realized that what I love is the micro-resolution. This year my micro-resolution is to leave my phone at home when I walk the dog.

This year my resolution is to finish things. The resolution isn’t about starting things and having the follow-through to get them done. It’s about finishing many of the things I already started that aren’t done yet… books I bought but haven’t read, pictures I meant to hang, a scarf set aside mid-knit, pants I need to hem and jewelry I need to have mended, cooking ingredients I want to use up, a bag of donations I want to drop off, plants I want to re-pot, art supplies and craft stuff waiting to finally be used, etc. This month I started playing my guitar again (just ten minutes a day) and it’s one of my bigger and more delightful things to “finish.” I want to get good enough to play just for fun on my own!

Oohh I love this! Follow-through is hard!

Heeeyyyy…have you been in my house? This sounds like my dining room! (Sans guitar.) A three day weekend sounds like a good time to try to find the top of my dining table.

My resolution at the beginning of 2024 was to read more of my book backlog. I read a lot, but mostly library books. However, I just checked my reading log and since I made the resolution two years ago I’ve read 19 “backlog” books. Still at it now …

Def the gardener. My seeds are started, my cold crops are peeking through, my yard plans are forming. 🍃and next month is the annual orchid event in my area.

If you are talking Cheekwood, I am SO excited for the annual orchid event! Always a highlight on my winter calendar!

@Eli, sadly, I’m not in TN but I have been to the glorious Cheekwood more than once. My nephew lives nearby-near enough to visit. Have a wonderful time next month!

Our local garden center has a orchid club affiliation which draws orchid growers and collectors from around the country. The event lasts four days, including classes.

I went to a networking event this morning as an introvert. New Year’s resolution, done!

Like, a new rom-com and the best kind of pizza.

Chili dogs, art museums, record stores, and fun places to hang even when it's cold.
